Biography

RUTH BAIN
|
Ruth Bain has an extensive background in the arts. She has worked in both public and private galleries, overseen more than 200 individual exhibitions, and managed many major public art commissions throughout Australia.
She has been a board member of Gertrude Contemporary Artists Spaces, and of Linden, St Kilda Centre for Contemporary Arts, and is the current chairperson of Lucy Guerin Inc., a leading contemporary dance company. She was the General Manager of Next Wave, a multi art form youth festival, and the Director of the Anna Schwartz Gallery, Melbourne, one of Australia’s foremost contemporary galleries. She is currently working on a major publication with Tony Clark, special projects for Experimenta, and a range of art consultancies.

KATE DAW
|
Kate Daw is a practicing artist and teacher. She has a PhD from the University of Melbourne (VCA&M) and degrees from the VCA, Glasgow School of Art and RMIT University. She has shown in recent exhibitions at ACCA, VCA and NGV, and in 2006 held a solo exhibition, The Between Space, at the Art Gallery of Western Australia.
Kate has received many awards and grants, including the prestigious Samstag Scholarship. She has undertaken a residency at the Asialink studio in India, and has exhibited her work widely, both nationally and internationally.
She has worked on collaborative projects with artists in both Glasgow and Melbourne. Kate has taught extensively and currently lectures at the School of Art at the VCA. She co-curated Bird Girls (2007) and Cock and Bull (2009) with Vikki McInnes, at the Margaret Lawrence VCA Gallery. She has been Chair of Next Wave and is currently Chair of the Creation Panel (New Work) at Arts Victoria. Kate Daw is represented by Sarah Scout, Melbourne.
