David Franzke



David has been working and collaborating with Cologne-based composer Bernd Friedmann since 1996 on various album projects to which he contributes compositions, soundscapes and atmospheric textures.

He regularly works with a variety of theatre and dance companies including, Sydney Theatre Company (Venus and Adonis and The Wonderful World of Dissocia); Malthouse Theatre (The China Incident, The Pitch, The Spook and Anna Tregloan’s BLACK); Melbourne Theatre Company (August: Osage County, Don Juan in Soho, Birthrights and The Recruit); Ranter’s Theatre (Holiday) and Anna Tregloan’s Skin Flick, for which he received a 2000 Green Room Award for outstanding contribution to design and technology in fringe theatre. David was nominated for a 2006 Helpman Award for best sound design for his contribution to The Odyssey.

David collaborates with visual artists including contributions to David Rosetzky’s portrait of Cate Blanchett currently on show at the National Portrait Gallery, Canberra and Daniel Crook’s work, Static no. 11 (man running), which won the inaugural Basil Sellers Sports/Arts Prize in 2008. Other artists he has worked with include, David Jolly, Andrew Hazewinkel and Susan Jacobs.
